As someone who's visited both of these Disney parks from a young age I'm usually asked which one I believe is "better" a difficult question for someone who has very fond memories of visiting both parks both with family and friends making it almost impossible to chose what I would say is "better". Instead I'm going to give a comparison of what I love about each resort rather than, this is better than this...
Disneyland Paris
This was the first Disney park I visited and therefore it holds that special place in my heart, being the first time I ever stepped foot in a Disney park. For the next three years we would visit therefore making it a big part of my foundation years of developing my personality. It was also the first holiday we went on as a family of four when my brother was 11months old and I was 5. I have lots of fond memories of having "magical moments" with cast members, in particular Alice in Wonderland, and the mice from Cinderella who skipped me through the park. Alongside these magical moments as a child I returned at age 13 with my school and enjoyed it even more. I then returned again last year when me and my best friend chose Disney as our after exams treat. So it's fair to say I've had my fair share of memories at this resort with lots of people in my life. I feel as I've gotten older I appreciate more about the parks, not just the rides and the characters. Something I feel I must mention is the fact that Disneyland Paris doesn't directly mirror the Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, something that helps to stop comparison between the two parks and helps personally enhance my experience of the park having been to both parks. Last summer whilst at Paris it was one of the hottest weeks of their calendar year, which added to our enjoyment of the trip. It also meant that we could stay for the fireworks each night without fear of getting cold or it raining. Something we luckily didn't experience whilst there! The fireworks at the Disneyland Park were on par with those at Walt Disney World with the use of projections alongside the use of fireworks and water fountains. The soundtrack is absolutely mesmerising with it switching between English language and French and using all popular film soundtracks, meaning children and adults alike can enjoy the magic of Disney. The Walt Disney Studios Park is different to the of the Hollywood Studios in Orlando, again something that helps to keep things exciting and new. I particularly enjoyed Crush's Coaster and have never experienced a ride like it, that being said I also thoroughly enjoyed the Ratatouille ride and it's immersive nature. A favourite of mine that I'm glad is in both the Orlando and Paris parks is the Hollywood Tower of Terror meaning that regardless of which park I attend I still get my favourite thrill ride! One benefit of Disneyland Paris, I believe, is that their Disney Village is attached to the parks as opposed to the one at Walt Disney World being within 10 minutes drive. Meaning you can pickup food on your way into the park or on your way out or do some quick shopping rather than standing in queues in the park. Another bonus is that the parks are within a short walking distance from most of the hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Sequioa Lodge, Newport Bay Club and Disney's Hotel New York) something that a non-driver like myself greatly appreciates and even if you're hotel isn't within walking distance there are shuttles on hand to take you from the park to your hotel. One recommendation I would have is that if you're staying on site at the resort definitely get the Eurostar! I can't recommend it enough especially as it drops you straight into the heart of the magic without having to get taxis from the airport and it saves lots of time! Overall, I love this park as it was the first Disney Park I ever visited and the closeness to home also helps this. It makes me think of family it was also the first holiday I went on alone with just a friend. The fireworks are beautiful and the park itself stands alone with its different range of attractions whilst keeping some family favourites the same as the other parks.
That being said here are some pictures of the Paris park...
Walt Disney World
Where do I start with this impressive park, the first time I stepped into the park I was completely awestruck as an 8 year old at the time I couldn't think of anything better than a bigger scale version of my favourite childhood holiday and to be in America too was even better, nice sunny weather a proper sun holiday! My favourite part of Walt Disney World is the number of parks they have and the water parks on top of that! Since our fist visit to Walt Disney World we have been another 4 times on top of that so you could say we're slightly obsessed as a family but as we say we've never been anywhere like it. I think the experience at Walt Disney World is enhanced somewhat by the sheer size of the parks! One of my favourite parks at Walt Disney World has to be EPCOT it's innovative nature is one of the main draws for me personally alongside the World Showcase which is beautifully put together and the mind blowing fireworks in the evening; Illuminations, Reflections of Earth never fails to bring a tear to my eye. It also plays host to one of my favourite rides, Test Track! Animal Kingdom is another favourite, Kilimanjaro Safari's is a wonderful safari enabling many to see animals they would never imagine ever seeing in their lives, Expedition Everest is also another favourite at this park as it's the most thrill seeking ride within this park. Hollywood Studios is also a family favourite and a personal favourite, as I'm into acting the way films are made, and seeing props used in the films I've grown up loving draws me in immediately! The only criticism I could make is that the Backlot Tour last time I went was seriously outdated which is what may have lead to it's closure although this is a shame as it had potential to stay as a staple attraction in the park. The Great Movie Ride is one of my favourites here and the 1920s area as you enter the park is one of the most architecturally pleasing parts of the park making it one of my ultimate Disney favourites! Nothing can beat the Magic Kingdom though, in my eyes it brings the inner child out of everyone and the fact they update it constantly help to keep it vibrant and new, Splash Mountain is a family favourite and something we do multiple times on our trips to Walt Disney World! One of the draws of Walt Disney World is the shows and that the quality of each show matches the other, all of the fireworks are in time to the music and the night time parades are to die for. The only thing that would put me off is that a rental car is an essential if you want to get between the parks easily unless you stay on site and you can get the shuttles, as the parks are not within walking distance of the hotels. That being said I still find it difficult to compare the two parks as each are unique in their own way and therefore hard to say which is better than the other as both are significantly different. Here are some pictures from my last trip to Walt Disney World...
Until next time
Em x
